With the Philadelphia Student Union I got to fight for police abolition in schools, but ultimately against a racist policy like policy 805 that the school board here in Philly tried to push. It was important to show up and give testimonies on why increasing schools budget and increase of police and metal detectors in school would be dangerous to black and brown student with this already oppressive school system
80 RACIST POLICE POST
The Philadelphia police department was outwardly making racist xenophobic and sexist post on Facebook that was harmful to the live of black and brown communities. I got the chance to work in different meetings and spoke on a panel about why police are harming our communities
MALCOM X GENTRIFICATION PROJECT
Growing up I simply did not see any white people in my neighborhood. University and elected officials once again has sold our communities off for individual profit. Working with PSU a park such a staple like Malcom X is gentrified more and more with university city taking control of West Philly. We went around asking neighbors how they felt and what they would like to see in their park.
BARNES FOUNDATION SOCIAL JUSTICE WORKSHOP
Working with Writers Room Drexela social justice writing and photography non profit that helps inner-city school students has allowed me to host a social justice workshop with the Barnes Foundation
BEYOND THE BINARY
Beyond the Binary is a campaign that me and my friend Mydreliz started to spread the awareness on what it means to live outside of a box or really the binary. We wanted to create this campaign to help people step into freedom when it comes to their identity and to show people that no matter who you are we shouldn't let labels limit us in no area of are life.
SAY HER NAME RALLY
Recently in the summer I got to join some really dope women to represent women who have been killed at the hand of police brutality. It was really powerful and a great atmosphere.
